What to Expect (FAQs):

What is Rooted?  Rooted is a discipleship experience for people in every stage of life, wherever they are in their walk with Christ. Discussions are held in a small group format. Together, you'll explore the Bible, engage in experiences, share stories and practice rhythms essential to a healthy spiritual life!

What’s the format of the study? 10 weeks of in-person small group meetings (one small group gathering per week for those 10 weeks). Before you come to your group, you’ll do 5 days of devotions for each of those 10 weeks. It is a chance for you to read, reflect, journal, and write down questions. Each week, you’ll get together with your group to discuss what you’ve read, and what God is teaching you.

What nights do the groups meet, and how will I know what group I’m in? Rooted groups will be sorted out (and communicated to you via email) during the week of September 1st, based on the information you provide on your registration.  When you register, you will have the opportunity to tell us what nights work best for you, and we will do our best to accommodate. When does the Rooted semester start, and when does it finish?  Rooted groups begin with our Rooted Kickoff Night on Monday night, September 8th and the semester concludes with a Rooted Celebration on Sunday, November 16th during our Sunday morning worship services (details TBD).  The hope, however, would be that your Rooted group would continue after Rooted is complete - but as a small group that will consistently meet.   

Is there a cost? Rooted registration is $35.  This covers your book, the food for the kickoff event, and for your shirt.  Please do not let money be a barrier!  We have some scholarships available.  Please contact Marcus (marcus@svcclemoore.org), and he can get you more information about this. 

When is the deadline to register?  Registration deadline is Thursday, August 28th.

What if I can’t go to every meeting?  Rooted is a large time commitment, but we believe it is worth it to invest in the entire process! If you know you are going to miss more than 2 meetings, we suggest you wait until the next season of Rooted (September-November of 2026). The 10 weeks are a cumulative experience, and so we ask that every participant commit to honor each other with being at every Rooted meeting if possible.

Can I be in the same group as my spouse/significant other/friend?  Yes!  When you register, there is an opportunity for you to indicate this.  You will both need to register separately, and you will both need your own books.

When do we get our workbooks?  You will pick them up when you check in for the Rooted Kickoff on September 8th.  

I’ve done Rooted before, and I still have my book.  Do I need to get a new one?  It is highly recommended that you do for two reasons.  1) The Rooted workbook was recently updated (page numbers are different, more material included, some excluded), and 2) you’re probably in a different place in life than you were when you did it before, so what you hear from God through the devotions will likely be different, too.

What about childcare?  We recognize that childcare may be a hurdle for some.  Once Rooted registration closes, we will do our best to quickly let you know what night your group will be meeting, so as to help you make arrangements for childcare. 

There are some groups that will have childcare accommodations of varying degrees.  Those options will be made apparent during registration (see also: list of groups above).  Feel free to select those groups should a childcare need is needed, but we also encourage you to be sure to choose all options/meeting nights that work for you so as to help the sorting process.

Is there a virtual option?  Yes!  You will have the ability to see what night that is during registration.
